1. Start with your vehicle and the damage
Call the shop with your year, make, model and a brief description of what happened. Mention warning lights, new noises or any concerns about moving the vehicle. Confirm appointment availability and the appropriate location before visiting.
2. Review the assessment and estimate
Discuss the visible damage, the proposed work, parts and refinishing. Ask whether disassembly is needed to understand the full scope. A preliminary estimate is not a guarantee that no additional damage will be found.
3. Clarify payment and insurance
If you are using insurance, bring the claim number, insurer contact details and any existing estimate. Confirm coverage and your payment responsibilities with your insurer. Ask the shop how it handles documentation and additional damage discovered during repairs.
4. Agree on authorization and updates
Before work begins, confirm the approved scope, how changes will be communicated and the best way to reach you. Ask for a current scheduling estimate and discuss transportation arrangements separately.
5. Review the work at pickup
Walk through the completed work with the shop. Review the final invoice, applicable care instructions and any written warranty terms. Ask about remaining questions before leaving.
